Wife of Louisiana native Randy Jackson seeking divorce

It looks like Randy Jackson, the Louisiana native best known to many people as a judge on "American Idol" for a dozen years, will be ending his marriage of nearly two decades. The split between Jackson and his wife Erika looks to be a high-asset divorce.

In addition to his role on "American Idol," the 58-year-old Jackson has written music for the likes of Gladys Knight and Maria Carey. He is also known in the music industry as an album and television producer. His work as a session musician dates back to the 1980s, when he played for the popular band Journey.

In the divorce documents, Jackson's wife of 19 years listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. She is seeking spousal support and attorney's fees. She is also asking for full physical custody and joint legal custody of the couple's 17-year-old son. The two also have a daughter, but she is over 18.

This will be Jackson's second divorce. He and his first wife, who have one daughter together, divorced in 1990.

Neither Jackson nor any of his representatives have commented on the impending split. Therefore, it is not known whether he will challenge any of his wife's requests for money or custody.

While most people's break-ups don't garner the attention of the tabloids and other media as Jackson's already has, most everyone wants this very difficult period in his or her lives handled with discretion. Experienced Louisiana family law attorneys can help work to ensure the privacy of their clients and their families while fighting for their interests.
