Many couples find it advantageous to get their divorces finalized prior to the end of the year, even if those divorces have been pending for some time. One high-profile couple who filed for divorce more than two-and-a-half years ago has now finalized it.
Actress Jane Seymour, perhaps best known to many for her years on the TV show “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and her Open Hearts jewelry line was married to actor/producer James Keach for over twenty years. Seymour, 64 years old, and Keach, who is 68, have twin sons.
A year ago, Seymour, who had been divorced three previous times, called the break-up a “major shock to my system.” She also, however, said that she and Keach “are very good friends….We’ll always care for one another and care about one another.” The two will also both continue their work for their charity, the Open Hearts Foundation.
The two had considerable property, assets and potential earnings to divide in the divorce. Seymour is reportedly getting a lump sum of $132,000 as well as the couple’s estate in England and another home in Malibu. Keach is reportedly getting custody of the couple’s Los Angeles Dodgers season’s tickets. The two are reportedly splitting all future earnings from their production projects, including “Dr. Quinn” and the film “Walk the Line” as well as their coin collection and country club membership.
High-asset divorces don’t have to be acrimonious. Even couples with considerable wealth and assets can reach a settlement amicably if they both want to do so. Experienced Louisiana family law attorneys can help their clients achieve that goal.
