Making The Complex Understandable

Family law: Johansson facing custody conflicts with soon-to-be ex

Divorcing with children can be difficult for anyone. Even celebrities are not spared from this area of family law as many well-known individuals face custody conflicts. Louisiana residents may be interested in a recent situation involving actress Scarlett Johansson and her estranged husband Romain Dauriac. The couple has been separated for several months, and Johansson recently filed for divorce.

With the filing, the actress also hopes to gain joint custody of the couple's daughter, whose age was not disclosed in the report. However, Johansson wants her home to act as the child's primary residence, which has caused upset with the child's father. Legal representation for Dauriac claimed that the father was surprised by the request since he was the primary caregiver to their daughter while Johansson worked on her career.

Reports also indicated that Dauriac has plans to petition the court in hopes of taking the child to live in France, which is his native country. Though the couple created a prenuptial agreement, terms regarding child custody were apparently not detailed in that agreement. Johansson issued a statement indicating that she does not plan to comment on the divorce proceedings.

Whether celebrity or not, child custody conflicts can cause considerable stress among divorcing parents. Therefore, Louisiana residents who are dealing with custody issues of their own may wonder how to effectively handle their predicaments. Concerned parties may wish to enlist the assistance of experienced family law attorneys who may be able to provide valuable insight into specific circumstances. Additionally, legal professionals could help ensure that any agreements made are legally binding and official.
